Q :What does Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) mean?

A :Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light means to achieve world peace through heavenly culture and restore light. With the purpose of restoring the global community that has been suffering due to wars and conflicts, HWPL is a peace organization that goes beyond the barriers of culture, religion and beliefs, to respect the core values of peace and life. All individuals, as the main subjects of peace, are working together to make a world of sustainable peace.
Q :What does HWPL do?

A : Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) is registered as an organization in the Seoul Metropolitan Government in accordance with the regulations of the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding non-profit organizations. In addition, HWPL has been registered with the United Nations and is now an official NGO associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). HWPL has 170 branches, 158 advisors, 506 publicity ambassadors and over 200,000 volunteers worldwide. HWPL members who are engaged in various fields such as politics, law, religion, education, and art are working actively with the motto “to make peace in the world and leave it as a legacy to future generations”.

HWPL’s three main peace initiatives are as follows:

1) The Legislate Peace Campaign is a global campaign to encourage the implementation of peace and to develop the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) as a legally binding document.

2) The World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Office is a place that offers harmony and practical communication in which various religious people come together to find solutions for peace through the comparison of religious scriptures.

3) The HWPL Peace Education Project plans to disseminate peace materials being produced on the basis of the basic values of peace, such as dignity, loyalty, harmonious coexistence and the sustainability of life, to HWPL Peace Academies and other educational institutes around the world as the foundation of peace education.

In addition, in the case of natural disasters where help is urgently needed, HWPL organizes relief activities through the donations of its volunteers.
Q :Is HWPL a religious organization?

A : HWPL is solely a peace organization that works with the principles and visions of peace that transcend religion and does not operate under a specific religion or have an affiliation with any one religion. One of HWPL's peace initiatives, the Alliance of Religions Initiative, provides a forum for communication between both religious and non-religious people, regardless of their denomination, as they explore the value of peace in each religious scripture. HWPL works with peace leaders from all over the world, as well as with religious leaders from all walks of life.
Q :I wish to take part in the work of HWPL. What should I do?
