Youth and Women Empowerment
Wars and armed conflicts have relentlessly led youths throw away their lives without having a chance to bloom. Atrocities of war continue to torment them for the lives of people. Family members, especially mothers, are also terribly afflicted with the loss of their beloved children. Recognizing that youth should take the leading role in protecting their own lives and women dedicate their lives to protect their children with the loving heart of mothers, HWPL with its two wings, IPYG (International Peace Youth Group) and IWPG (International Women’s Peace Group) aim to bring sustainable and universal peace.

Peacewalk paves the way to peace from the voice and youth

One of the most influential mechanisms to empower youth and women is peace walk, bringing out collective voice of peace and advocating practical approach to it at a local and national level. On 25 May 2013, IPYG in collaboration with HWPL hosted International Youth Peace Walk in Republic of Korea (ROK) where 30,000 participants from 130 countries gathered to support for the cessation of wars. Since then, peace walks in commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace have annually been hosted around the world.

On 25 May 2014, the 1st Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace was hosted at the Busan UN Memorial Cemetery in ROK, a site of commemoration for those from various parts of the world who died in the battlefields. Remembering another huge sacrifice of blood of youth after the two great wars, it was suggested that creating the environment of peace in this era is the mission of our global family, especially for youth and women.

On the same day in 2015, the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace and International Peace Youth Group Walk Festival was hosted in Maguindanao, the Philippines where the Mindanao Peace Agreement signed by Catholic and Muslim representatives of the local area became a milestone in advancing peace in the region.

Every year, peace walks raise the public consciousness on the legitimacy of making peace in our world to gather the hearts of all citizens, mainly youth and women, and provide guidance on putting collective efforts in the activities and campaign that promote global peace.

Women’s heart embraces the spirit of love on the planet
Furthermore, the SHE CAN, a major project undertaken by IWPG, was established with the vision of instilling peace in the hearts of women across the globe. The SHE CAN project empowers women from all walks of life by organizing and implementing programs and activities to strengthen the role of women as global leaders forefront in peace-building and safeguarding human and women rights. It encompasses the areas of networking, education, volunteering, campaigns and other activities of young female adults.
