Introducing IPYG Affiliate Organization Public Lab Mongolia
Public Lab Mongolia, a non-profit organization established in 2018, aims to resolve environmental and public health problems by collaborating with various stakeholders, including civil society, academia, government, and the media. The organization is creating a culture where data is easily accessible and shared, helping experts and citizens from various fields make more informed decisions.
The mission of Public Lab Mongolia is to create a healthy environment and resilient community through the use of open data. The organization focuses on collecting and analyzing data related to the environment and environmental health to support data-driven decision making. It also carries out various activities to enable young people to contribute to the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Major activities include community research on climate change, air pollution, urban services, and the use of natural resources. The organization also takes part in geospatial data management and analysis and developing programs involving youth and the community at large.
“Through collaboration, we will continue to work together to protect our mother earth and reduce environmental degradation by planting more trees,” said Erdenetsogt Sumiyasuren, executive director and co-founder of Public Lab Mongolia. “By working with HWPL and IPYG, we see how much power youth can achieve when they unite for a common goal. In this sense, we hope that together with the youth, we will do many good activities for the society. Currently, we are working together on tree planting and I think that in the future, we will cooperate on many other works aimed at the welfare of society.”
Executive Director Sumiyasuren also has a message for young people around the world: “I think that if youth unite in harmony, we can do everything together in the sense that we are one family, one world.”
