10th Regular Monthly Meeting of the Gwangju Jeonnam Peace Action Committee and Discussion of the ‘Ttuksim’ Campaign
The Gwangju Jeonnam Peace Action Committee (PAC) held its 10th regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 19 at the office of HWPL Global Branch 02.
The Gwangju Jeonnam PAC, which was established in January 2024, has been carrying out activities to create a community that achieves sustainable development. From this month, it declared its participation in the Gwangju Jeonnam region’s “Ttuksim Campaign” under the “Together: Connecting Korea,” program and discussed the direction of the campaign’s development.
“Together: Connecting Korea” is a citizen-led national movement to build social harmony that began in July 2024. The program aims to connect regions, generations, ideologies, religions, and cultures in conflict-ridden Korea, and is organized in four main areas: “connecting generations” to resolve conflicts between generations, “connecting cultures” to embrace diverse cultures, “connecting the future” to address environmental issues, and “connecting people” to promote inter-Korean harmony and reunification.
In the Jeollanam-do region of Gwangju, the “Ttuksim Campaign” was launched to provide a place for intergenerational communication and to build strong “Ttuksim”(strong determination) as a spiritual legacy for a mentally-weakened generation.
More than 50 community members and leaders participated in the meeting and enjoyed a time of intergenerational communication and harmony, including HWPL Global Branch 02 Chief Branch Manager Kang Koo-young, Gwangju Jeonnam PAC Chairman Kagho Kwon, Vice Chairman Jung In-soo and Secretary General Woo Sung-sik. The participants, including Peace Council officers and many young people, shared their opinions on the development of the Ttukshim Campaign.
The adult attendees said it was a meaningful time to be with the youth and to be inspired and enlightened by their passion and pure spirit of service. The youth also said it was a great time to share their vision and learn from those who have the power to move the world.
The participants expressed their willingness to actively participate in the development of the ‘Ttuksim Campaign.’ The Gwangju Jeonnam PAC will continue to work on concrete action plans in response to their wishes.
