Peace Concert Connecting Korea Held at Miryang Taegueksa Temple
On October 1st, the Taegueksa Temple in Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, hosted a significant peace concert organized by the HWPL Global03 Branch. This event was part of the “Together: Connecting Korea” campaign, launched during the 10th Anniversary of the September 18th HWPL World Peace Summit.
The concert commenced with a series of peace booths that showcased HWPL’s three core initiatives: International Law for Peace, the Alliance of Religions, and Peace Education. Participants had the opportunity to engage with HWPL’s peace education textbooks, which serve as a foundational element of its Peace Education initiative. An interactive segment allowed attendees to write peace messages, collectively forming the word “Peace” and symbolizing their shared aspirations for global harmony.
The second part of the program featured an array of traditional performances, including an Arirang presentation, a harp recital, and an exhibition of Korean dance, all reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Korean people.
Following the performances, Park Myung Hwa, Deputy General Director of the WARP Office in Jinhae, Global03 Branch, introduced the “Together: Connecting Korea” campaign. She emphasized that true peace can only be realized through the bridging of cultures, generations, and races, highlighting the concert as a pivotal moment for unity in Korea.
A unique bibimbap performance concluded the event, with HWPL officials, distinguished guests, and performers collaboratively mixing various ingredients, symbolizing unity. The event culminated in a collective chant of “We Are One!”
Ven. Heo Deok Rim, Chief Monk of Guemsuam Temple in Busan, remarked, “Buddha, Jesus, and Confucius all must unite,” and expressed her commitment to actively participating in HWPL’s peace initiatives and the “Together: Connecting Korea” campaign.
Attendees left the concert inspired and hopeful, expressing a strong commitment to becoming messengers of peace and collaborating with HWPL to advance the cause of global harmony.
