Solidarity for Peace: Peace Without Borders
On January 11th, HWPL held the “Peace Without Borders” event in Los Angeles, California. The event was attended by approximately 700 participants, including representatives from the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN, hereinafter referred to as PARLACEN), the Latin American Parliament (PARLATINO, hereinafter referred to as PARLATINO), and the North Korean Human Rights Committee (HRNK) based in Washington, D.C. Representatives from North, Central, and South American countries shared a meaningful time together, transcending borders and languages, to discuss a common goal for a peaceful future.
Carlos Rene Hernandez Castillo, president of PARLACEN, has been working to reduce violence in the Latin American region. “The ‘Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War’ (DPCW), globally promoted by HWPL, is a significant instrument that deserves the attention of the United Nations. I believe it should be internationally adopted through the UN Security Council, as its objective is to achieve the long-awaited peace in our world—a home we must protect by all possible means,” the president stated in his keynote speech.
“The adoption of the Declaration by the UN Security Council would strengthen global efforts to prevent conflicts and promote lasting peace, aligning with the principles established in the UN Charter.” He expressed his strong support for ensuring that the shared values of the DPCW are realized in Central America, including in El Salvador.

President and CEO of the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (HRNK), Mr. Greg Scarlatoiu, conveyed the importance of civil organizations in achieving peace through a video message. “The role of non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, is crucial. And allow me to take this opportunity to credit HWPL for the very important part you play in bringing peace, security, stability and prosperity to the Korean Peninsula, in particular, and to the world in general. I look forward to continuing our collaboration. I look forward to expanding our collaboration.”
PARLACEN Deputy Hon. Cecilia Guadalupe Rivera Mendez also expressed her thoughts on attending. “I am very excited, and these emotions have made me feel gratitude, happiness and marvelous sentiment that Chairman Lee wanted to inspire us — peace. And I would like everyone to stand and give a round of applause to thank Chairman Lee for dreaming for peace.”

▲ Peace Performance
The Peace Without Borders event was a meaningful opportunity to reaffirm the solidarity and cooperation of the international community in achieving peace. Moving forward, HWPL will continue to work with countries around the world to establish the DPCW as an international law for peace, and drive practical change for sustainable peace.
